Scrapbook of letters, clippings, regulations, organization charts, photographs, postcards, and printed material kept by Captain Harry R. Van Liew, executive secretary of the Suffolk County Civil Defense Council. Included are General Plan for Civil Defense, dated February 1941, and information on blackouts on Long Island, including a report from the Islip Town Civil Defense Council on a trial blackout, October 1941. Correspondents include W. Kingsland Macy, Harry T. Peters, Ward Melville, and L. Barron Hill, director of the Suffolk County Civil Defense Council.
